While many racers were taking a wait-and-see attitude, the brave few that ventured forward were seeing results. Consequently, more have taken the step to see how a change in their batteries will yield desired results. As with any change, there are substantial questions about the effectiveness of a new idea. We went directly to the source-in this case the New Castle Battery Manufacturing Company-for answers to questions racers may have about this idea. What type of racing battery would I need? For the types of racing that do not require an alternator, the choice is the two-post model.
Works on 36 and48 volt golf carts. Comes with 2 plugs please see pics. A Powerwise type rectangular shape that fits most Ezgo carts. And a round one fits 48v Club Car with round type of connector from to now.
Connecting two volt batteries in series adds their individual voltages together to create a volt battery pack. The series arrangement does not increase the capacity of the batteries. Connecting the positive battery post to the negative post of a second battery and then connecting the leads of the load to the remaining two battery posts.
We purchased a Model 70 Diesel with pony start. We had to overhaul the main diesel engine and decided to put an electrical start on the tractor at that time. We purchased an electric starting system from a junked Everything bolted up fine, we did need to remove the divider in the battery box on the 70, and replace the generator bracket along with make a holder plate for the regulator.
The problem came in when we tried to find accurate knowledge on wiring and how the electrical system worked. We interviewed a number of persons who all claimed they “understood” the 24 volt system. Every time we tried their way, the batteries would drain or there would be some After months of piecing together info we finally found a man who they said had been born on a John Deere tractor.
His name was Clyde Henry who had been a serviceman and salesman for an older John Deere dealer. Sichi Farm Supply in 84 Pa. Clyde filled in the pieces of the puzzle for us and using the info below we have had almost no problems with the system, other than the normal battery replacement. We later purchased a Diesel that came with electric start. It worked fine, but wasn’t wired to our diagram below.
We re-wired the system to our specs and it worked trouble free for years until we sold the tractor. That also doesn’t mean we are experts or that ours is the only way, but the info you find here will go a long way in helping explain the ins and outs of the JohnDeere 24 volt electrical system.

Write me if you want to know how to hook up both batteries. rumble seat. RE: to rumble seat This will go directly on top of the existing 6 volt cable at the starter itself. Now you can start it with 6V or 12V. It has to be charged using an external 12V battery charger. I`ve been running this setup for over 5 years and charge the 12V.
You simply need to have two 12v batteries and a set of cables. You will need to have one jumper wire that goes between the positives on both batteries and another to go between the negative posts. By creating a parallel setup, you keep the voltage the same, but your amp hours will increase drastically. This is completely different from trying to run your battery in a series, which does not change the capacity. One thing to keep in mind is that your setup will appear as though your motor is drawing off a single battery, but the two batteries will drain out equally.
This means, you can still end up with a dead battery if you are not careful. You can watch the video below for a more detailed look.

While you can certainly go off the beaten path and acquire and install the equipment on your own, there are several advantages to go through SPX. Here I will discuss getting a charger installed through SPX. The first step in the process is to register for a home level 2 charger installation. Additionally you will need to fill out on online questionnaire regarding how your house is laid out and a photo upload of your current breaker panel configuration.
This allows them to do the first level assessment remotely, but realistically to get a quote you will need to schedule an Electrician to inspect the property. SPX will coordinate all aspects including scheduling the electrician. The In Home Inspection After you get in line, you wait. Around the time the Volt was being delivered, I received the first round of calls to schedule an in-home inspection.
The inspection gives you a quote with no obligation to move forward with the install. After one scheduling snafu, things got figured out and the electrician showed up promptly at the scheduled time. It took roughly 15 minutes of looking around and speaking with the electrician to make sure he understands exactly what you want to have happen. After the inspection, it took roughly days to receive the quote from SPX. The Volt will only take 16 amps, so no advantage to a Volt user, but potentially useful for future electric cars.

Mannier, The way that you hooked it up is an excellent way to do it. Basically you have a 24 volt battery consisting of battery 1 – which is a 12 volt battery and battery 2 – which is a 12 volt battery. You will have 24 volts at the ends of the red wire pair, and the black wire pair. Then, you should be bolting the two red wires to the load side of the circuit breaker. By adding the circuit breaker at the battery, you are protecting all of the wires from damage in case of a pinch, or short somewhere between the battery and the motor.
I assume that you have at least two battery banks to charge the two batteries used in your trolling motor battery setup.
As you may or may not know, Powerful Living has been America’s leading provider of solar backup generators for almost 10 years now. In fact, when we released our flagship product, the PowerSource , it was hailed as the first off-the-grid breakthrough in 50 years and news of it spread like wildfire all across the country! Diode D2 prevents damage to IC4 if the battery is connected with reverse polarity. IC3 produces a regulated 5 Volt power source. The 5V is used to power the SCC3 circuitry, it is also used as a reference for the battery float voltage comparator IC1a. The comparison point is offset by the thermistor TM1 for temperature compensation. The comparison point is also modified by the Equalize switch, S1 and R2.
The output goes low when the battery voltage is above the float voltage setting. The flip-flops are clocked by the IC1b phase-shift clock oscillator, which runs at about Hz. The two halves of IC2 operate in synchronization, IC2a is used to drive the PV current switching circuitry, IC2b is used to drive the charging state indicator LED either red charging or green floating.

Always Disconnect the Power before beginning work! Failure to follow this rule can result in death or injury. Breaker and fuse panels remain hot even if the main breaker is turned off or the main fuse is removed. Main panels should only be worked on by qualified persons. Incorrectly performed electrical work can result in fire, damage to property, and injury or death to people. Furthermore, in some jurisdictions it may be against the law for anyone other than a licensed electrician to perform electrical work, and work which is performed by unqualified people or which has not been inspected and approved may cause your homeowners insurance policy to be void.
Why do some circuits have a neutral wire and others don’t? Because some appliances contain volt internal circuits such as timers and electronic displays which require a neutral connection to comply with current codes. When these 4 wire appliances are connected to old 3 wire systems via a 3 wire pigtail they use the ground conductor for the neutral.
Other “straight” appliances such as water heaters have no need for a neutral because the current both feeds and returns by way of the two hot wires as the current polarity alternates. Ideally, in any circuit the ground wire serves only as a safety feature and never carries any current under normal circumstances.

24 Volt Trolling Motor Battery If you have a large boat, you may not be able to power everything using a 12V battery, especially larger trolling motor setups. However, finding a 24 volt trolling motor battery is not the easiest task.
Nov 05, Boating The battery takes a charge, but will not power scooter This scooter require two batteries, not one. It is usually a good idea to replace both batteries at the same time, even though one is obviously bad, and the other “seems” okay. In a perfect world, they would both live a long and happy life, but reality is that some die young, others old. Since they are joined together, the one that’s going out saps the life out of the other one, so take a bullet and replace both batteries.
Make sure you completely charge the scooter when you get the new ones in. Verify that your charger is working properly. The output must be higher than the rated voltage of the two batteries put together to charge. While you have the shell off the scooter, you can see if the charger is working by measuring across the terminal on each battery with the charger off. Note the meter reading.
